Certificate in International and Comparative Law

The Certificate in International and Comparative Law is a graduate level certificate within The University of Alabama School of Law’s J.D. program that is intended to prepare law students for engagement in law practice with an international, foreign or comparative law dimension.

To earn this certificate, I completed a 6-week study abroad program at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia and I took 16 hours of classes focused on the international practice of law; these classes included Public International Law, International Business Transactions, Australian and American Law, International Statutory Interpretation, International Environmental Law, and International Human Rights Law.


Certificate in Public Interest Law

The University of Alabama School of Law offers a specialized Certificate in Public Interest Law that allows students to focus their academic work in the field of public interest. 

To earn this certificate, I completed more than 100 hours of pro bono and community service work during law school, worked in the Children’s Rights Legal Clinic, and I took various classes focused on Public Interest law, including Public Interest Lawyering, Poverty Law, Children’s Rights, International Environmental Law, International Human Rights, Gender and the Law, and Public International Law.


LexisNexis Advance Certification

Graduates of a LexisNexis® research certificate program are prepared to evaluate the credibility of online information and find primary and secondary legal sources using the most effective computer-assisted research methods. Upon graduation from a LexisNexis® research certificate program, law students are able to effectively:

  • Navigate the Internet and create effective search statements

  • Determine the reliability of sources

  • Locate court cases and statutes

  • Search and retrieve primary and secondary legal sources and verify the accuracy of citations

  • Read and cite legal cases

  • Conduct financial and business research

  • Locate, profile, and investigate individuals and companies


WLS Star of the Quarter

The Women Lawyer’s Section of the Birmingham Bar Association awarded me the Star of the Quarter in October 2021. This award is given to the most active member of the section during that particular quarter of the year. I was recognized across the section’s social media platforms and at the annual board meeting.


Good Samaritan Award

The Order of the Samaritan is the highest public service award bestowed by the University of Alabama School of Law. To earn this award, I completed more than 90 hours of volunteer work, with at least 50 of those hours spent doing pro bono/law-related service.


Bench and Bar Legal Honor’s Society

Bench and Bar is an organization whose objectives are to instill those standards of honesty commensurate with the formation and maintenance of good moral character; provide recognition of outstanding scholarship, leadership and service; and promote association among students, administration, and faculty. Bench and Bar consists of not more than 15% of the law school student body.


Excellence in Service Award

I earned this award by completing the most community service hours in my graduating 3L class


To earn the Student Pro Bono Award, I completed a 50 hours of volunteer work in an approved nonprofit, public interest, or government office.

To earn the Dean’s Community Service Award, I completed at least 40 hours of law-related or non-law-related community service while in law school. 


2018 Outstanding Graduate Student Organization

When I started my MBA in the fall of 2016, I helped revamp the National Black MBA Association within Manderson because it had fallen out of operation. By the end of my second year serving as President, we were recognized as the University of Alabama’s Most Outstanding Graduate Student Organization on campus due to our extensive involvement in professional development initiatives, community service, and social outreach programs.
