KARLI GUYTHER

JD, MBA, BS, BA

What gives me a competitive advantage?

In 2015, I graduated from The University of Alabama, summa cum laude, with my BS in Marketing with a specialization in International Business, as well as my BA in Public Relations with a Spanish minor. In May 2019, I graduated again from UA with my Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration. I also completed Certificates in Public Interest Law and International and Comparative Law.

While in graduate school, I had the opportunity to work in a number of different settings. I worked as a TA for GBA 490 (Strategic Management) as well as the Public Relations/Marketing Coordinator for the Career Center at Culverhouse for three years. I also worked as a business consultant for a small family care home in Cary, NC - The Retreat. I participated in various legal clerkships, including for the Honorable L. Scott Coogler in the Northern District of Alabama, Protective Life Insurance, and the University of Alabama Office of Counsel.

As an attorney, I started my career practicing employment litigation. My work involved representing plaintiffs who had been adversely impacted in the workplace through an employer’s illegal discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, sexual harassment, etc. I have also practiced in a transactional role, providing general counsel to businesses across a variety of industries, primarily with respect to commercial contracts, governance, formation and organization, and transactions involving the purchase and sale of a business. I have continued doing business, creative and legal consulting for small businesses as a small business consultant, and I volunteer in various capacities.

I believe that my previous employment background partnered with my most recent transactional role and experience advising small businesses and corporations make me a unique employment prospect for any employer. Finally, my true passion is anything travel-related. If I am not personally hopping from one continent to another, I am likely planning a trip for someone else. Travel planning is my favorite side-gig/hobby, and finding new restaurants, wineries and cooking classes in the process is what keeps me motivated in all of my other roles.
